Best pets in Pet Heist: the complete rarity list
Which pet is the best in Pet Heist? The short answer: species is a matter of taste, rarity is what counts. This page lists every pet and rarity with the real numbers the game uses, and explains how to get the rare ones.
The six pet species
There are six species in the game: the cat, bunny, penguin, panda, chick and beaver. All six exist in every rarity, and the species itself does not change how much a pet earns. A Legendary chick earns exactly as much as a Legendary panda. Pick the ones you like looking at; your vault's display is also what other players see when they scout it.

Each pet gets a name when you get it (cats are called things like Mochi, Miso, Pixel, Tofu, Luna or Biscuit), and you can see its rarity on the label above its pedestal.
Rarity list: coins per hour
Pets on display in your vault earn coins every hour. The base income depends only on rarity (coins per hour; ~ means rounded):
| Rarity | Level 1 | Level 5 | Level 10 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 4 | ~10 | ~30 |
| Rare | 10 | ~24 | ~75 |
| Epic | 20 | ~49 | ~149 |
| Legendary | 40 | ~98 | ~298 |
Every pet level multiplies income by 1.25, up to level 10. You level a pet by feeding it coins, and the cost grows with rarity and level. Income piles up for at most 12 hours, so collect at least twice a day if you can.
So which pet is the best?
By the numbers, any Legendary pet is the best pet in the game: ten times the income of a Common one at the same level. In practice the best pet for you is the highest-rarity pet you can keep safe. Pets on display earn but can be stolen; pets in the nest are safe but earn nothing. A Legendary pet on a pedestal behind a weak vault is a gift to the next thief, while a well-guarded Epic earns all day. Read the trap vault guide before you show off a rare pet.
Golden pets are a special look: a gold version of a Legendary pet. They have the same stats as a normal Legendary, so they are about prestige, not income. The golden Legendary is the top prize of the League chest.

Where pets come from
- Your start: every new account begins with a Common cat and 100 coins.
- Raids: you can carry one pet out of a player vault per raid. The Deep pockets skill lets you carry two out of bot vaults.
- Bot vaults: up to three pets a day can come from computer-run vaults.
- The campaign: some campaign vaults hold a signature pet that you get once per account.
- Bags and chests: Epic star bags can hold a Rare pet, Legendary bags an Epic pet, and League chests a Rare or Epic pet of a species you do not have yet.
- Never the shop: pets are never sold for money.
Drop odds in bot vaults
Bot vaults come in five tiers that get harder as you progress. Higher tiers hold rarer pets:
| Vault tier | Common | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 88% | 12% | 0% | 0% |
| Tier 2 | 68% | 32% | 0% | 0% |
| Tier 3 | 45% | 50% | 5% | 0% |
| Tier 4 | 25% | 60% | 15% | 0% |
| Tier 5 | 10% | 62% | 25% | 3% |
Merging: three pets into one better pet
Duplicates are not wasted. "Swap 3 for 1" turns three nest pets of the same rarity into one pet of the next rarity, with a random species:
- 3 Common to 1 Rare: 300 coins
- 3 Rare to 1 Epic: 1,200 coins
- 3 Epic to 1 Legendary: 5,000 coins (needs thief level 10)
Merging is the most reliable path to a Legendary pet for most players, because it does not depend on luck. More on rewards is on the free rewards page, and new players should start with the beginner's guide.
