A free stealth game you can play in the browser

Updated

Looking for a stealth game that runs in a browser tab? Pet Heist is a free 3D stealth heist game that opens straight from petheist.com on a phone, a tablet or a computer. There is nothing to install and no account to create before you play.

Real gameplay, recorded in the game (10 seconds).

What you play

You are a small masked thief breaking into vaults seen from above. Each vault is a compact stealth level: corridors, rooms, doors, guard dogs on patrol, cameras sweeping back and forth, lasers on a timer and pressure plates that punish running. You pick your route, sneak past the guards, crack the locks, take the pet from its pedestal and get out. A raid lasts about a minute or two, which suits a quick break.

Between raids you build a vault of your own with the same traps, and other players try to rob it. That second half turns a classic stealth game into a slow-burning duel with real people.

Why it works well in a browser

Controls

On a computer

On a phone or tablet

Drag on the left half of the screen to move. A small push of the stick sneaks, a full push runs, and a sneak button is there too. Gadgets are buttons on the right. The game is designed for portrait mode, but raids also work sideways.

What you need

Any recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Samsung Internet or Opera works, on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iPhone or iPad. The game draws 3D graphics with WebGL, which every modern browser supports. On older or slower phones it lowers the detail automatically, so you get a smooth raid rather than a beautiful slideshow. A mobile data connection is enough; the first load is the largest, later visits reuse the cache.

What makes a good stealth game, and how Pet Heist handles it

Readable guards. Stealth is only fair when you can see what the enemy sees. In Pet Heist every vision cone is drawn on the floor, and a detection meter fills before anything bad happens, so you get a moment to back off.

Sound matters. Running footsteps can be heard, sneaking cannot. A missed lock pin makes noise, and a pet you carry squeaks now and then. This gives you real choices: sprint and risk it, or slow down and lose time.

Failure is not the end. Setting off the alarm starts a 25-second escape timer rather than a game over, so a loud raid can still be a win.

Tools that change your plan. Gadgets unlock as you level up: smoke bombs, a drill for walls, a squeak toy to lure dogs, an EMP that switches off lasers and cameras, a dog treat, a grapple dash, an auto-pick and a cloak. Each opens a different route through the same vault.

Levels made by people. The 34 campaign vaults are hand-made, and the vaults in Raid mode are built by other players, who must beat their own vault once before anyone can raid it.

Prefer an app?

The same game is free on Google Play for Android phones, with raid alerts when someone breaks into your vault. An iPhone app is planned; until it is out, iPhone and iPad players can play in Safari. New to the game? Start with the beginner's guide or read about how stealing pets works.
